Story
When the Floodwaters Recede, Recovery Begins
The floodwaters may have receded, but for thousands of families in Assam, the journey to recovery has only just begun.

Weeks of relentless rainfall submerged villages across the state, forcing families from their homes and destroying livelihoods built over generations. Houses were damaged, belongings washed away, livestock were injured or lost, and entire communities were left struggling to rebuild with very little support.

Now, as people return to what remains of their homes, they face a new crisis.
Contaminated water, poor sanitation, and prolonged exposure to flood conditions have led to a rise in fever, skin infections, wounds, and waterborne diseases. Many people urgently need medical attention, medicines, and follow-up care, yet access to healthcare remains limited in many flood-affected villages.
To support these communities, Nature’s Observer (CB) will conduct post-flood medical camps from 5th to 15th August in the affected villages of Jorhat, Golaghat, and Charaideo districts of Assam. The camps will provide free medical consultations, essential medicines, and basic treatment to people who otherwise have little or no access to healthcare.

The floods have also devastated the region’s livestock. Cattle, goats, and other domestic animals have been injured, weakened, or left without fodder and veterinary care. For many rural families, these animals are their primary source of livelihood. Helping them recover is essential to helping families rebuild their future.

Beyond healthcare, countless families have lost the basic necessities required for daily life. Clothing, cooking utensils, hygiene products, and sanitation supplies are urgently needed. Villages also require cleaning and sanitation support to reduce the risk of disease outbreaks during recovery.

Your contribution can help provide:
- Free medical camps, medicines, and treatment for flood-affected families.
- Veterinary medicines, treatment, and fodder for injured and surviving livestock.
- Clothing and essential household supplies for families who have lost everything.
- Hygiene kits and sanitation materials to help communities recover safely.
Disasters don’t end when the waters disappear.
Recovery is a long journey, and every act of kindness helps restore hope.
Stand with the people and animals of Assam.
